Courtney Thompson
– Osprey Village Supernova Winner 2020 –
The Supernova is the highest individual honor that our company gives and each year, one individual on the leadership team at Osprey Village is voted as the community’s Supernova. The winner of this award is voted on by their colleagues and the honor is bestowed upon them at the company’s yearly Annual Meeting.
The criteria for voting are based on upholding our company’s mission to be caring professionals dedicated to quality services. Additionally, this individual will consistently deliver excellent customer service (to Members and colleagues), lead positively with integrity, take accountability, put the team before themselves and will embody the company’s vision to create communities where people live longer, healthier, and happier lives.
This year, we are proud to congratulate our Director of Dining Services, Courtney Thompson as the recipient of the 2020 Osprey Village Supernova Award. This honor was bestowed during Osprey Village’s Supernova Celebration on Friday August 7th at Joe’s 2nd Street Bistro in Fernandina Beach, Florida.
Courtney owned and operated a restaurant in Amelia Island for 24 years. After that time, she wanted to start a new chapter and was introduced to the senior living industry opening a local retirement community on the island for fifteen months. She later transferred to Osprey Village and met with Executive Director, Matthew Barger. The vision that Matthew has for Osprey Village and the team that he was assembling enticed and inspired Courtney and she accepted the position at Osprey Village. “I couldn’t be any happier to be a part of the Osprey Village team”, says Thompson.
“I surround myself with a team that too has heart, passion, and know how honored we are to do what we do for our Members.”
Interview with Courtney Thompson
How do you feel being chosen as your community’s Supernova by your peers?
I was totally shocked. I believe, live, and instill lateral service and what can I do. But being chosen by my peers was an honor since I have only been at Osprey Village for a short time.
In your position, how do you fulfill the company’s Guiding Principles (People First Always, We Exist To Serve Our Members and We Have A Responsibility to be Full)?
I live it each day. I hope that I surround myself with a team that too has heart, passion, and know how honored we are to do what we do for our Members.
What do you want people to know about living at a retirement community?
Retirement is the new young. We are there to enhance, improve and assist in the best years of their lives. You can be as active as you want or able to sit and enjoy.
