Top 5 Social Events of 2020
1. Day in Provence
Members at Osprey Village ‘visited’ Provence, France for their February 2020 Signature Experience. The area is known for their beautiful flowers, gourmet cuisine, and artisanal culinary products! They started their day making Lavender Soap with a goat milk base which is a great moisturizer for skin. In the afternoon, they visited Celestial Farms to learn how to make goat cheese. The farm produces a variety of these cheeses and it was great to get a ‘behind the scenes’ tour of this freshly made product! In the afternoon, our Pastry Chef hosted a croissant making demonstration for attendees – who doesn’t love a freshly baked treat?! Later in the day our Wellness Team welcomed everyone to a lecture about the benefits of Lavender and its positive impacts on the body. We ended the evening with a Taste of Paris which consisted of an exquisite French meal prepared by our Dining Services team.
2. Active Aging Week
In the beginning of October, our Members enjoyed Active Aging Week! We celebrate it each year to remind our Members about the benefits of an active lifestyle as we age. To kick-off our Active Aging Week activities, we had a small group pick up a paddle for kayaking! They enjoyed an afternoon on the water along the Marshland Waterway from Walker’s Landing, which is a part of the Amelia Island Plantation! Our convenient location on the Amelia Island Plantation gives our Members access to this area, year around so we wanted to utilize it! Our tour guides from the Omni Nature Center taught us about the waterway’s ecosystem along the way.
3. Easter Parade
At Osprey Village, we are one big family! To celebrate Easter, our Members came together for a community parade! It warmed our hearts to see the decor, outfits and smiling faces that were present throughout the parade. Members hopped into their golf carts, onto their bikes, or walked through our beautiful community! Staying a safe six feet apart from others, we spread the holiday spirit to all who could see. Participants enjoyed delicious sweet treats, decorated cookies and eggs, and the love of their Osprey Village family! We are so blessed for the love and support of our community.
4. Earth Day Parade
Our beautiful community was a great place to spend the day Earth Day and our Members did just that. They spent the day appreciating the glorious island that they call home. We hosted an Earth Day parade where attendees decorated their golf carts, tricycles, and themselves to ride around the community! Our Landscaping Committee challenged Members to clean out their garages and donate any unused gardening supplies or our Memory or Culinary Gardens for future use.
5. Night at The Oscars
In February 2020, The Osprey Village “Oscars Awards” brought a day of glamour, glitz, and dazzling activities to the community. The preparations for the big ceremony started with Oscars trivia. After brushing up on our knowledge, we headed to our VIP lounge to get ready for tonight’s star-studded event. Our Members enjoyed champagne and strawberries while getting a chair massage and exfoliation treatment for their hands! They were whisked away to their homes to put on the final touches on their outfits for the evening. Our Red Carpet Happy Hour was full of paparazzi so our Members arrived dressed to the nines! While attending the Oscar pre-show, our Members enjoyed a signature Oscar’s cocktail, “The Alley”, champagne, and caviar! During our Oscar Awards, Members were given a ballot to place their votes for the best film of the year.
